Word Girl Kaylyn

Last week was Student Appreciation Week at Kaylyn's school.  Each day was a special day for the students (and staff).

Monday was mismatch day but Kaylyn didn't want to participate.  She is very concerned about being laughed at and even though we told her that lots of kids would be participating, she refused.

Tuesday was pajama day (sorry no picture).

Wednesday was favorite movie or character day.  As soon as the days were announced, Kaylyn decided she wanted to be WordGirl.  I thought I might be able to do that.  But then Monday was busy.  Tuesday I was sick and went to bed at 4 pm.  Wednesday morning I woke up with an "AARGHHH! I need a WordGirl costume!"  Adam dealt with making his own lunch while I came up with a WordGirl emblem and found red pants and a shirt (thank you Aunt Robbie for the red sweatshirt for Kaylyn's birthday- it was perfect timing!).  I found a piece of muslim in my fabric box.  A little clear contact paper to make the emblem survivable and lots of safety pins.  And voila!  WordGirl!

I do not think of myself as "creative" - yes I do projects but 95% of the time I follow patterns/instructions.  I do not come up with things on my own - but this was totally me.  I looked at WordGirl's picture and free-handed the star and emblem out of construction paper.  It's probably bigger than Wordgirl's but it had to cover up the print on the sweatshirt.

Thursday was crazy hair day - Kaylyn didn't participate again.  This was also her birthday so I ate lunch with her at school and saw lots of fun hair!

Friday was school spirit day.  Kaylyn was in a rush to get dressed and didn't think about it.  Strike 2 for this was she wore her favorite school shirt the day before.
