Company Picnic

So it was the company picnic this weekend. We had a blast at the amusement park. Adam's favorite part is the grilled corn on the cob. My favorite part is not having to cook or clean up. The girls favorite part? Probably the ice cream.

Adam took the girls on the carousel. I kept my feet on stable ground and took pictures.

As we left, I tried to get a picture of the girls with me. Morgan decided she was done and threw a temper tantrum so it was just Kaylyn and I. But I love the picture!

Mom retires

So with the restructure at the Girl Scout Council, Mom took advantage of an early retirement offer. This weekend the Council hosted a retirement "tea" for the 5 staff members who were retiring. We brought Nana with us to hear all the compliments about Mom. Fortunately for me, Kaylyn had to go to the bathroom (and I had to take her) while Mom's tribute was read so I didn't have to cry as much. Of course, we didn't need to hear Mom's tribute to know how special she is! And every time someone asked what Mom was going to do now, I'd respond with "Let me introduce you to her granddaughters".
Love you Mom!

Tour of Missouri

For the second year in a row, the Tour of Missouri came to town. The night before the professionals arrived, we participated in a bike ride around the loop. Normally, the girls love riding in the bike trailer. But that night, Morgan SCREAMED the whole time until we took her out of the trailer after the ride. Morgan would even throw herself around until her feet were sticking out and kicking Adam's back tire. Poor Kaylyn was stuck in the trailer with her. Other parents on the ride were smiling and feeling thankful that their child was doing so well.
Since the professionals were only riding during school hours, we pulled Kaylyn out of school a few hours early so she could see the race. Morgan and Kaylyn loved the hand clappers to make noise as the riders went by.
Adam was a volunteer the next day, working security. He had a blast and can't wait for next year.As the riders went past, we were right on the edge of the street and really got a good view of them and how fast they were going.

Brainy Child

So just before school started, Kaylyn went to our eye doctor for an official eye exam. She always refused to cooperate at the pediatrician's office. We were SHOCKED to learn that she was extremely far sighted. She's never seemed to have any problems. But now we wonder if that's part of her coordination struggles and her struggle to color inside the lines. Anyway, her glasses arrived and here she is...
