Birthday party for Joseph
Last Saturday, we celebrated my nephew Joseph's birthday. Joseph turned 8 the week before. Robin came down with her family and we all gathered at Phelps Grove Park. There were 11 adults, 9 kids and 2 dogs. Needless to say it got crazy at times. But we had a fun time.
For those of you who don't know these "angelic" boys - from left to right - Thomas, Joseph, Ian (Robin's) and William. (Not to be confused with the Allison nephews which include a Joseph and a William).
Tour of Missouri and MS150
September 11 through 15th was the Tour of Missouri. On the 12th and 13th, the professional cycling race was in the Ozarks. Adam took off work to take advantage of this opportunity to see professional biking teams. On Wednesday, we all headed down to Jordan Valley Park and watched the cyclists cross the finish line. Kaylyn likes to be like Daddy and has decided she loves bicycling. Here is Kaylyn and Adam watching the cyclists approach.
.
I am amazed that we actually captured some of these cyclists. They were really zipping by fast - about 30 miles per hour, which isn't fast in a car but as they flew by us, we realized it's really fast on a bike. (For perspective, Adam usually rides his bike at about 14 mph on the trail home.) On Thursday morning, Kaylyn and Adam went to Branson Landing to watch the bikers start their time trials.

Saturday morning we headed out at 6 am to pick up Pres. Chandler and head to the start of the MS150. Here's Adam and Pres. Chandler in the lineup to start the 86 mile ride for the day. Fortunately, Adam did not have a broken arm this year. He improved his time, as well as not being nearly as tired as last year. The weather ended up not cooperating - heavy rain and a high of 51. Many bikers were not prepared for the cold temperatures. Adam was semi-prepared so he fared better than many. But we are proud of him for doing this. We're still calculating his fundraising totals as we're still receiving donations for MS. We're already planning for year 3 next September.
