First day of First Grade

Kaylyn started first grade this year! I can't believe how much she is growing up. We changed schools this year - to a brand new specialty school. They specialize in technology.

I snapped a picture as Morgan and I took Kaylyn to school that first morning. (Yes, they are wearing sweaters/jackets in August - it was cold!)

Here's the entrance to Kaylyn's classroom. Each classroom has a nice sign hanging outside it with a picture of the teacher, the teacher's name (I've smudged it to protect the innocent) and the year they'll graduate (that is such a weird thought).

We left Kaylyn as she got settled at her new desk. Sitting diagonally across from her is her friend Lilly from church. And also sitting at her table was Mady that went to her old school too. So she had two friends on day 1.
As we left Kaylyn, Morgan got very upset. Apparently we had not explained to her beforehand that only Kaylyn was going to first grade. Not only did Morgan think she got to go to school, she thought she would be in 1st grade with Sissy. Fortunately, she has adjusted to that idea now.

Bikes at the farm

Before school started up, I took the girls out to the farm for the day. We brought the girls' bikes so they could ride around the driveway and show off to Granny and Poppa.
The driveway isn't as full of gravel as it was when I was a kid so the girls needed more help than I expected. But they still enjoyed it.

Just to make you laugh

One day in August, Kaylyn was gone somewhere and Morgan was playing in the living room. I went to the bathroom. I looked up as I heard a click. There was Morgan with my camera - taking a picture of me using the bathroom! AAAHHHHH! As I shooed her away, I realized the lense cap was on. Phew!

But just for your enjoyment - here are the 2 pictures she took.....

Family Summer Pictures

We attended a wedding reception the first of August and afterwards took pictures of us all dressed up.

I was trying to get a good shot of Kaylyn but she kept being goofy. So here's one of her goofy pictures.
And then we got a nice shot too. But now I like the goofy one better because it shows her personality.
Morgan was very cooperative for her picture. Doesn't she look like an angel?

Friends come to play

The first week of August was the week of friends.
First, Seth came to visit while his aunt and grandma went tomato picking.

Since I did not go to YW/Girls Camp, we offered to help out the Stake YW Camp Director out with her kids. She only took us up on the offer for 1 day for 1 kid - but Kaylyn loved having Kennedy over for the day. Of course, the day Kennedy came over was the morning after Rylie came over for a sleepover (which was the same day Seth came to play) so we had a house full of girls. Adam escaped somewhere for that day very quickly.
